چکیده

Composite chitosan-magnetite microparticles (Fe-Cc) were evaluated as a new adsorbent for cobalt and nickel ion separation from aqueous solutions. Sorption batch experiments were conducted for optimizing the pH, initial target ion concentration and adsorbent amount. The experimental data were fitted using Langmuir, Freundlich, and respectively DubininRadushkevich isotherm models. The Langmuir model is the best fit. The material has a maximum adsorption capacity of 588.24 mg/g for cobalt ions and respectively 833.34 mg/g for nickel ions, superior to other magnetic chitosan adsorbents reported in the literature. Desorption and regeneration study revealed that the particles might be used up to three times without significant loss in adsorption capacity. Copyright © 2012 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l. Heavy metals removal from wastewater by using different kinds of magnetite nanoadsorbents: effects of different organic and inorganic coatings on the removal of copper and lead ions

Co-precipitation procedure was applied in order to obtain different kinds of magnetic nanoadsobents for the removal of Pb(II) and Cu(II) toxic metal ions from wastewater samples. Prepared nanoadsorbents were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The average sizes of t...

Mercury Removal From Aqueous Solutions With Chitosan-Coated Magnetite Nanoparticles Optimized Using the Box-Behnken Design

BACKGROUND Nowadays, removal of heavy metals from the environment is an important problem due to their toxicity. OBJECTIVES In this study, a modified method was used to synthesize chitosan-coated magnetite nanoparticles (CCMN) to be used as a low cost and nontoxic adsorbent. CCMN was then employed to remove Hg(2+) from water solutions. MATERIALS AND METHODS To remove the highest percentage ...

Synthesis of 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine loaded sodium dodecyl sulfate-coated magnetite nanoparticles for adsorption of Hg(II) ions from an aqueous solution

Background: The rapid increase in agricultural and industrial development has made heavy metal pollution a serious environmental problem and public health threat; therefore, removal of heavy metals from water is important. The current study prepared DNPH@SDS@Fe3O4 nanoparticles as a novel and effective adsorbent for removal of Hg(II) ions from an aqueous solution. Methods: A selective adsorben...

Using Nanocomposites of Chitosan and Montmorillonite for Adsorption of Heavy Metal Ions from Wastewater

Common technologies for heavy metal removal are membrane separation, ion exchange, electro-deposition, and chemical precipitation. These methods prove to be costly and inept, especially in removing trace amounts of heavy metals [2]. Another disadvantage is the production of sludge or mud, which requires proper disposal and confi nement [3]. On the other hand, adsorption eff ectively removes con...
